How shipping works on Marka

On a Marka checkout order the seller sets a flat shipping price, the buyer pays it at checkout, and the seller ships with any carrier and adds the tracking number. Marka does not sell shipping labels yet.

How does shipping work on Marka today?

On a checkout order the seller sets a flat shipping price for the whole order. The buyer pays it at checkout together with the item, straight to the seller's own Stripe account. The seller then ships with any carrier and adds the carrier and tracking number to the order. Shipping exists only on checkout orders; an order picked up in person has no shipping.

Can I ship internationally?

Yes, if the seller chooses to. Sellers pick the countries they ship to in Settings, then Shipping, and checkout only accepts a delivery address in one of those countries. A listing page shows where that item ships.

Does Marka sell shipping labels?

Not yet. Buying carrier labels through Marka is not live, so today a seller gets the label from the carrier and adds the tracking number to the order. Planned, not shipped: connecting a seller's own Easyship account so carrier labels can be bought through it.

Does Marka mark up shipping?

No. The buyer pays the flat price the seller set, to the seller's own Stripe account, and Marka takes no marketplace fee on the item or on shipping. Stripe's own processing fee still applies to the payment.

Which carriers can I ship with?

Any carrier today, because the seller buys the label and adds the tracking number. Marka has a page for each carrier it plans to support labels for, and each says whether that is coming soon or planned.
