Why the zero holds

0% is the business model, not a promotion.

Zero-fee marketplaces have raised the number back up before. Three structural reasons this one stays where it is.

We don't earn a share of your sale

Marka's revenue is optional Pro and Business subscriptions. Checkout never computes a marketplace cut, so there is no rate sitting in the code waiting to be switched back on.

Your payout never passes through us

Stripe Connect charges your buyer's card directly on your account, and you are the merchant of record on the sale. Marka holds CA$0 of buyer money and runs no escrow.

CAD by default

CAD is the default listing currency, sellers name the city an item is in, pickup is coordinated in Marka chat, and our Terms are governed by the laws of Ontario and Canada.

On sales tax: because you are the merchant of record, any GST/HST or provincial tax you are required to charge is yours to collect and remit. Marka does not calculate, collect, or remit it for you — and takes no percentage of it, because our percentage is zero. Whether you need to register at all depends on your own situation; ask an accountant.

If Marka takes 0%, how do you make money?+

Through optional paid plans (Pro, Business) that add tools — unlimited listings, unlimited AI copilot runs, and channel sync. We don't lower fees on paid plans because the fee is already zero. Most sellers stay on Free forever. Because the revenue is a flat subscription and not a share of your sales, 0% is the business model rather than an introductory rate.

Where does the money actually go when someone buys?+

Straight to your Stripe connected account. You're the merchant of record. Stripe takes its standard processing fee (about 2.9% + CA$0.30). Marka's marketplace fee is CA$0.00. We never hold buyer funds and there's no escrow.

How does Marka stay safe for in-person pickup?+

When you list with pickup enabled, the meetup is coordinated through Marka chat. We log both confirmations and record no-shows on the order, and on a card-paid pickup, the buyer can leave feedback on a no-show. The buyer pays however the two of you agree — cash, e-transfer, or card via Stripe at checkout. For cash and e-transfer pickups, no money touches Marka. We don't insure cash handoffs — meet in public, bring a friend, trust your gut.

Can I really mirror my whole eBay shop?+

Not yet. eBay mirroring is planned and is not live. Once it ships, you would connect your eBay account and Marka would pull your active listings, photos, prices, and inventory counts, with your eBay listings staying in charge. Until then, list directly on Marka.

What about returns and disputes?+

Because Stripe charges your account directly, card disputes (chargebacks) happen between the buyer's bank and you. Marka observes the dispute lifecycle via webhook and surfaces it in your console, but we don't arbitrate. For pickup orders, no-shows and rejections are recorded on the order.

Do you take a cut of the sales tax I collect?+

No — there is no cut to take. You're the merchant of record on your own Stripe account, so any GST/HST or provincial sales tax you're required to charge is yours to set, collect, and remit; Marka does not calculate, collect, or remit sales tax on your behalf, and our fee is 0% of the order either way. Whether you need to register and charge tax at all depends on your own situation — talk to an accountant, not to us.

Which countries do you support?+

Marka is open to buyers from day one wherever they are. CAD is the default listing currency and our Terms are governed by Ontario law. Sellers connect their own Stripe Connect account in any country Stripe supports — that's most of the world. Local pickup works between buyers and sellers in the same city; cross-border shipping is at the seller's discretion with the carrier of their choice.

Do you support shipping?+

Yes. Sellers choose at listing time: pickup only, shipping only, or both. Set a flat shipping price on the listing — buyers pay it at checkout — then ship with the carrier of your choice and add the tracking number so your buyer can follow the parcel. Carrier labels and live rates through Easyship are coming and are not available yet.

How fast does Marka support reply, and is there priority support?+
